How can I improve my study skills in college?

What can you learn in study skills?

Study skills advice, Math study skills? How to be successful in school? ?
I just started school and I'm really good at all of my classes except Math. It's only the 2nd day and I'm already lost I don't want to make my parents pay for a tutor and none of my friends can help me. I'm sorta shy and I don't want to ask the teacher. Any advice about studying for math or study skills in general? What's your afterschool routine? Thanks you guys < 3

Is it a bad idea to try and teach myself english grammar and punctuation, maths and study skills? i want to?
teach myself these basic skills before i enrol in some type of college or university course. im 25 years old. do you think its a bad idea or should i just enrol in an adult learning course instead? i believe if i learn correct study skills i should be able to teach myself grammar and punctuation in no more than 5 months. what do you think?

What are some good study skills?

How do I increase my study skills?
I'm a freshman in high school and honestly, I don't get good grades. I don't fail, but I get a mix of Cs and Bs. I want to get B s A s.But there is a problem. I'm not good on staying on track with my studies. When I'm usually supposed to be typing out an essay or studying for a test I find myself playing Xbox, going on Facebook, and talking on the phone. And whenever I am studying, I find it hard to keep on track AND understand what I'm reading. Is there ANYTHING I can do to help myself?

How will you use the information from ASSIST (approaches and study skills inventory) to improve your study?
habits.?

What are your study skills?
I'm in 8th grade Earth Science and we have a HUGE 100 pt. test coming up and I'm so nervous Our teacher gave us this big packet of stuff we need to know, and it's like, 20 pages. So I wanted to know how you would study this stuff. I'm so scared and I've been crying a lot because my grade means a lot to me and I would be so mad if I got a bad grade. So do you have any tips or something. I'm not a good studier because I used to just be able to wing it, but I can't this year. Anyone know some things to help me?Thanks And I don't want to hear " get off the computer" blah blah blah. It's 11 23, and my brain definitely doesn't register stuff at this time of night.

Help with study skills?
I, like many other normal high school students procrastinate and i cannot concentrate or have the incentive to do my homework or study when i need to and my exams are coming up. Please suggest as many ways and methods i can use to improve my study skills and be less lazy. I don't play any games and only go on msn but don't really talk to a lot of people. I have so much time after school but tend to do something else that is unproductive to avoid my homework. All appropriate answers are appreciated

What are some ways to improve study skills and test taking skills?
Hi so I was wondering what would be a good way to improve study and test taking skills. I have a hard time staying focused. I want to improve my study skills. When it comes to tests I feel like I blanked out and don't know anything. I get frustrated. Please give good suggestions, not anything like smoking a blunt " Study high, take the test high, get high scores." LOL < 3 please though, help

I need to learn study skills.?
I'm a smart student, so I've never really needed to study. But now that I'm older, I have to. I never do homework at my house. I always do it at school in the morning or in study hall. If I absolutely have to do it at home, I stay up until like 1 in the morning and then start on my homework. My house is small and depressing. My room just makes me want to fall asleep, like rainy days do. I sometimes try to start my homework right when I get home, but I end up falling asleep or just getting so bored that I can't concentrate. How can I change my habits and make this better?

How can I improve my studying skills? An effective way to learn more? Any tips?
I want to study more effectively. I study repeating and writing definitions down, saying them, reviewing my notes. But I have noticed that I am forgetting what I read and constantly looking back at my previous notes to review them which is making it hard to move on to another section. It takes many repetitions to really memorize it and it wasn't this hard for me before. I would usually just sit in class and listen, and I wouldn't have to study... So any tips on how to improve my studying skills?

Help with Study Skills?
I am in college. It is my freshmen semester. I am realizing now that I don't know how to study I am getting by on pure luck I have covered the majority of the material before so I am getting A's and B's and my B's are like 85 % 87 %. I think my lowest grade is like an 83 %. One class I skipped lecture for about week and a half had no idea what chapter we were working on, I looked over my notes for 15 minutes went and took the test and got a 93 %. I had a really good teacher last year and had covered the material already. Next semester I am going to take some really difficult classes. I don't think my study skills are going to cut it for me. They say it takes 3 weeks to make a habit. I want to change my study skills. My college recommend that you study 2 hours per every credit hour. So for me once you exclude the classes that are welcome to campus that would be 12 credit hours and 24 hours per week. I don't come anywhere near that I will study maybe 1 4 hours for a class when I have a test in it that coming week. How do I make time for that much studying? Next semester I am taking 17 credit hours 34 hours Here is how I prepare for class I always will do the homework. That is the one thing that has changed from high school. In high school I would have lots of missing assignments but I have not missed a single assignment Which I am really pleased about.I am trying to use my text books more. In an ideal world I would have the chapter read before the lecture. I would say this happens maybe 60 70 % of the time. If I don't read the chapter completely then I will go through the chapter and copy down vocab words and our book does summaries after key points and I will copy them down. I would say that I have at least done this about 80 % of the time. I would say the majority of the time I will have read the chapter before the test though not always. My biggest problem is the chapters are like 30 pages long and they are really boring it is hard to get into the right frame of mind.During Class I take notes on my laptop. I would say about 95 % I am focussed on class and not on facebook or the like. I also record the lectures as well. I am still fine tweaking this because in some of my classes I have yet to find the perfect seat and can't hear my professor speaking later. I also copy down any review questions that are asked because those could be test questions.I don't really review my notes that is something I am trying to doStudying for tests I normally will look over my notes and if there is anything I am not 100 % on I will go back into the book to find more info. Many of my teachers provide a study guide and I will try and complete the study guide. I will also look online for tests over the material. This normally takes 1 3 hours the first day. Then I only review for about 20 minutes after that. I start studying about 4 days before a test.I just feel like I am not doing something right because I am no where near 24 hours If you included all of my homework, textbook reading and studying on a weekly basis It might come out to be 8 hours and that is for all my classes I understand it is just a guide and not a cold hard number but I just feel like I am doing something wrong. Next semester I am taking 6 classes and somme of them are supposed to be real tough

School problems and study skill help?
Okay so, I absolutely HATE math. My homework is just staring at me right now. If I tried I could be better and possibly understand it. I'm too lazy is the problem. It's my study skills maybe? I get home and all I want to do is sleep. I need to motivate myself and make myself do this. Any ideas?
